IMHO, you're just wasting your time fooling yourself into having the skills to become certified. Reading a book, or memorizing an exam dump doesn't buy you the experience you need to be a successful DBA. Take the Instructor-led courses at Oracle University, install the database and gain hands-on experience before attempting to become certified or work as a DBA. I usually interview candidates in the company I work for, and always after the second question you can know if the candidate is a real DBA or just another exam-dump-memorizing dude.

Bookis Forwarded to Shipla, Pranav, Jatrojoomla.MJ your email id is not correct. Please post your id again. For RMauriera - Everyone needs to Study something. No one will give you job to be an DBA without having any knowlege. Learning or miugging up dumps will atleast give you some knowledge or interest in that subject. Every one does have so much money also to go and take Oracke Traing. If you Can help guys here with your suggestion and experience, you are welcome to do that. but please dont demorloze them. I will be very thankful to u. Thanks Pratik Do you find this valuable? |

Agreed, nevertheless what you're doing is illegal, at least the Oracle Press books, since its copyrighted material. On the other hand, I'm not against studying per se, my point is that you can't pretend to be a DBA just by passing an exam based on memorizing the answers to the questions. Hey RM .. lets not get much into ethics.. you can find these Books on Google easily these days. There are lot of guys in the world who are readily not only helping guys with the study matrials but also with their experience. Reach to any of the Public Forums .. like Orkut, Facebook, Yahoo groups etc you can find study materials to all the subjects and syllabus. And Just to clarify, Is there anyone in this world "A Born DBA". Everyone learns from some Study Materials/Books and everyone has a first day to work. You know the basics then you learn from your experince. Even you might have also learnt from somewhere and some day was your first day to work as Oracle DBA.. Right ?? Please i request you again, help the Upcoming Talent in nourishing them... with the experience you have gained and the talent you have earned at work. Thanks - Pratik Do you find this valuable? |

Because of that is that I'm saying that its NOT enough to read those exam dumps, practice, that's the key to success, and no, I'm not saying that I became DBA from nowhere, I started with Oracle after several years of Unix experience, and to learn it I used the same formula I used with Unix, read a little, practice a lot, no book can teach you better than the hands-on experience.

Hello Sir,I totally agree for few points you have put in....Thank u very much for the suggestion....this is wat i agree on... 1.Hands-on is lot more than bookish knowledge 2.Only memorizing does not lead us anywhere. I also wanted to put in some points.I am not that good experienced as you nor that technically good.i wanted to share my experience. Sir,i dont say that writing exams make a person a successful DBA.But in this competetive world u are never given any opportunity when u don have a proof .I work on Unix and C++. Only out of my interest I have gone through various books and various sites for 5 months continuously i gave the exam.I have never gone for dumps.Knowledge is for me and Exam is like a small certificate that u can do something if given a chance.I got my OCA in Mar-2008 and when i was a fresher and in Apr-2008 i was put in the DBA team parallely to share the load. Its like a part time for me then as i am not aware of many things.I GOT A CHANCE TO START with something only because of the OCA. Now i am a single DBA for an offshore and onsite team and i came from NOWHERE to SOMEWHERE.Sir ,You people are talented and can learn so systematically. For young people like us,who merely dont have any guidance must start with books. We do not have any other option. And the so called corporate world or colleges always believe or trust a person only on their marks on the first go.This is what we have seen where the bench marks are set for certifications. Why would anyone go for a certification if not asked for??We are going for certifications as people made us beleive that ,it is the right way to go with.. Hands-on is always a must.Books are not enough. But for a person who absolutely do not know anything and who do not have a chance going to training institute, these books help a lot and very importantly suggestions from great people like you w.ho had years of experience. 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
