How to create VM's?
Oct 6 2008, 7:51 AM EDT
I have opened an SR with oracle on this, but they are taking awhile to iron out the "supported" configuration of this. But suffice it to say that so far it looks very similar to this configuration. Once I've done the above steps, I create a VM and assign it to, for example, vlan100. When I do that, I give that VM an IP from within the VM and it is capable of pinging the dom-0 that it's running on. So for example, if I have the dom-0 as 10.1.1.101 and my dom-U as 10.1.1.102, they can both ping each other without a problem. However, my vm can't get past that dom-0. If I have another dom-0 (another host) on the same subnet as 10.1.1.103, I can't ping that host. If I migrate my VM via live migration over to the 10.1.1.103 host, then the vm is now capable of pinging that host, but can't ping the 10.1.1.101 now. So it seems that I'm very close with this, but that something is still blocking traffic. I've attempted to completely turn off my default iptables config that came with the OVM 2.1.2 code and still no luck. Any suggestions? Were you able to get your VM's to pass on those vlan's? Do you find this valuable?
