problem in installing oracle9i in vista

help me to install oracle9i in vista.. it always fails when i install... 22  out of 29 found this valuable. Do you?

Oracle 9i is not supported under Vista... Oracle 10g R2 (10.2.0.3.0) is the earliest version supported... 11  out of 14 found this valuable. Do you?

Create a Virtual Machine with XP and install 9i on it. You can use vmware. 12  out of 13 found this valuable. Do you?

Will it not degrade the performance of the database, as there is a middle layer of virtualization in it.
