Why are there so few Oracle Certs?

Why is Oracle not following Microsoft's example - look at the list of certs at http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/credential/default.mspx and the specialties on each of those links. Each one is a class or two, and each exam is $125. Make it fluffy, put it in a nice binder, and pack 'em in.

With all the recent aquisitions, Oracle should be able to produce around 300 specialty certs.

If Oracle really wanted to print money ... <g>

The number of certifications available is going up at a steady pace.
I guess the Oracle Certified Expert (OCE) credentials fall into the space you have mentioned
These are specialized certificates meant for experts.
I'm sure the numbers would multiply in the coming months.

I was thinking the other way around - Specialist rather than Expert. After all, we don't need a network Expert (which would get the Network Administrator noses twisted) but it sure would be nice to have a few more people understand how to configure a listener or other Networking stuff. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
