Certs should be considered carefully

In my opinion, Oracle's Certification system needs a serious overhaul. I would start off by getting rid of the OCA and making the OCP the entry-level test, demoting the OCM as well to a mid-tier test and finally have a practicum that is really worthy of experts. And reduce the prices and requirements for said tests as well.

The main problem is that these certifications are currently great money-makers for Oracle and business are starting to realize that, which really cheapens the value of the tests. Once Oracle de-emphasizes the money-making aspect and focuses on actually certifying a degree of skill, then we are talking. But wait, we are talking about Oracle after all. *grin*

Certification is a global recognition based on impartial judgement. There are individuals of different skill levels. Oracle certification for associates, professionals, experts and masters all serve distinct segment of the population. I feel all of these are relevant today. 1  out of 1 found this valuable.
