Oracle WebCenter - any real customers running WebCenter 10.1.3?
Jan 15 2008, 4:20 AM EST
It seems to me that Oracle WebCenter 10.1.3 has a somewhat limited feature set. Does anybody know of any real live customers using this product in the current version? 2  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?

Are these customers who have licensed the product or customers who have gone live with a site/application on WebCenter?

Any public customer stories? Any company names? Any public websites to look at?

Well, given WebCenter today is primarily a development framework almost all customers who have WebCenter are still in the build/test stage, of those that are in production only a few will want their names quoted publicly.

One company that I can name is DThree Inc. You can see details at the following locations:

I don't agree that Webcenter hasn't got anything to offer, besides the Webcenter Framework itself that gives you all portal and adf features combined with document management and all adapter ready functionality you have th Webcenter Services as well.
These Services give you all the features you need for Web 2.0 functionality regarding collaboration, rich user interfaces, ..

The only thing that's a little bit against webcenter is it's pricing I guess and the whole package you're receiving as a customer. There's a load of functionality in it, but you still need to get past the learning curve and then you will get full benefit.

I agree that WebCenter has a lot to offer - but in my opinion, Oracle is killing the product with the current pricing.

Did you notice that the price just went up by a whopping 56% in the latest price list? It's now listed at $125000 per CPU, which means that only customers who really have a business case for all the functionality will consider it. And apart from Eric Marcoux at the Université Laval, I'm afraid not many organizations will be able to make a business case for WebCenter.
