For what it is worth, the original Express was written in a language called AED. It was (according to the Encyclopedia of computer languages (http://hopl.murdoch.edu.au/showlanguage.prx?exp=217), it was an MIT-created language based on ALGOL. One of the original concepts for Express was as an array-manager for FORTRAN, which was one of the main languages of the day. 11  out of 12 found this valuable. Do you?
