RE: Got a Question? Use forums.oracle.com.
Dec 11 2007, 5:23 PM EST Really? I have posted numerous questions to forums.oracle.com and never received a single answer. In fact, I even questioned Oracle about that issue through the feedback button. In fact the official policy states that Oracle personnel monitor the forums and I can expect an answer within 48 hours (I think....). Anyway, I was eventually informed that the policy had changed more than 2 years previously. At that point, I officially gave up on the forums. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Got a Question? Use forums.oracle.com.
Dec 11 2007, 5:34 PM EST In fact, here is the official Oracle reply to my query: < Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The MetaLink help Files will be updated as they are over 2 years old now and our Forum Support policy has changed. We provide the forums for customer self-help. From time to time, Oracle Support might read the postings but no response from Oracle is guaranteed. > 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Got a Question? Use forums.oracle.com.
Dec 11 2007, 7:49 PM EST Sounds like you are referring to the Discussion Forums within MetaLink, which is a different deal. Forums.oracle.com is a community site and does not provide formal support, but there are well over 600K community members there, many eager to answer questions. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. RE: Got a Question? Use forums.oracle.com.
Dec 11 2007, 9:18 PM EST Agreed. Several of the major OTN forums, such as Database and SQL-PL/SQL, are monitored 24x7 by experienced end-users and several of the Oracle ACEs. While Justin would have more information than I, as for Oracle employees monitoring and responding on OTN, I know several that support it fairly regularly. However, I believe it's a decision made on an individual employee basis, not corporate policy. OTN forums are, "community support" which consists of both Oracle employees and end-users. It should be noted that if you're in any type of production-down or degraded production situation, you should rely on MetaLink and official Oracle Support. Though, if you've filed an official support request, it never hurts to post it on the forums either. 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Got a Question? Use forums.oracle.com.
Dec 12 2007, 9:38 AM EST In fact, I am referring to the Metalink Discussion forums, and thought that those were one and the same. I am happy to stand corrected and potentially find some answers there. 0 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |
