Database & IDM requirements
Nov 19 2007, 5:42 AM EST Don't you need a database license too? From what I've seen of 10.1.3 application server, it doesn't insatall a database. One of the prerequisites for installing WebCenter is Content DB, which its self needs a 10.1.0.5 or 10.2.0.2 database. What about Identity Management? It also looks like you need to have a seperate Application Server infrastructure to provide Oracle SSO and IDM. Can anyone clear this up? 2 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Database & IDM requirements
Nov 23 2007, 8:29 AM EST You need a database, but it's included in the price. You get a "restricted use" license for Content DB (which is otherwise an option to the EE database) with WebCenter Suite. This is one argument Oracle is giving for the high price. But note that this is a restricted license, ie. it is only for storing content used in WebCenter. The moment you create one little table of your own in it, you'll have to pay an Enterprise Edition database license. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Database & IDM requirements
Nov 26 2007, 11:53 AM EST ...which means it's the same licence mechanism as portal, which means exactly what batcat says.. If you want to use the product to store content of your own you will need an EE DB licence 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Database & IDM requirements
Nov 26 2007, 2:42 PM EST Agree that it's the same license model as Portal. But I don't think it's precise to say "If you want to use the product to store content of your own you will need an EE DB licence" As I see it, you can a) store your own content in the Oracle-supplied (UCM) tables. You just need the WebCenter license b) store your own content in your own tables. You'll need an EE DB license. That's gonna be an expensive CREATE TABLE statement ;-) 0 out of 1 found this valuable. RE: Database & IDM requirements
Dec 17 2007, 4:44 AM EST How about the SSO & IDM infrastructure requirements? Does the Web Centre license also include the application server infrastructure? 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Database & IDM requirements
Dec 18 2007, 8:42 AM EST You get the infrastructure (SSO etc.) as part of the Application Server EE license. Naturally, if you run your infrastructure on a separate server (as recommended by Oracle) you have two CPU's running app server and will need two AS EE licenses... 0 out of 1 found this valuable.
