  • ASM with PeopleSoft - yes or no? We are doing an initial installation of a new PeopleSoft system. This will run on Oracle under AIX. Our plan was to install and use ASM with Oracle. Our PeopleSoft consultants, however, tell us that the PeopleSoft install scripts are written for a non-ASM environment and will not work in an ASM environment unless they are heavily modified. They also tell us that none of the New York State PeopleSoft customers are using ASM.

    We are building a brand new system here, and want to do it the best way. I need to decide whether we need to insist that we go with ASM, or follow the advice of the PeopleSoft consultants and build a non-ASM environment. We are new to Oracle, AIX and PeopleSoft, and are looking for help in making this important decision. Since we have no Oracle experience, we want to build a system that is solid, and that is easy to support. Our hope was that ASM would help us to do that.

    Any advice would be welcome. Here is our environment:
    # IBM Power 550 8204-E8A
    # AIX v6.1 TL0 SP4
    # Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 64-
    # PeopleTools Release 8.49

    Thanks.

  • PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal is going strong There has been a lot of mis-information out there about the Enterprise Portal. It falls under Oracle's Applications Unlimited strategy, and we are continuing to enhance it just like other PS apps. The PeopleSoft portal is distinguished by being a functional portal. That is, it provides capabilities beyond simply aggregating and managing content. Chief among these are Collaborative Workspaces, which includes such things as discussion groups, group calendaring, content publishing, discussion forums, group links, team events, polling, email integration and team action items. The EP also supports the latest standards, so it can publish and consume content with any WSRP/JSR compliant source. It's tighty integrated with PS apps, and is very easy to deploy. The best prospects for this product are customers that have a strong PeopleSoft portfolio which they want to better integrate and improve the business processes across applications.

  • HCM Best Practices I have a client (public sector) who is requiring documented HCM best practices for processes. It's not enough to say that PeopleSoft functionality utilizes 'best practices'; they want to know what those practices are. I've searched the Oracle/PeopleSoft website and other internet sites for days. Does anyone have any ideas? Would be forever grateful!!

  • Any parameter to show breadcrumb above while loading the page? am actually generating a URL which would take the user directly to an approval page routed via portal environment. This URL navigates perfectly to the HRMS page after signon, but without breadcrumbs. • Can OTM (G-LOG) image of Oracle VM be possible? According to the Datasheet (http://www.oracle.com/technologies/virtualization/docs/ovm-ds.pdf), Only the following Oracle Applications are "supported" with Oracle VM

    • Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.4.x and 9.0;
    • PeopleTools 8.49.07 and above;
    • Oracle Siebel CRM 8.0;

    The word 'supported' may mean that it (PSFT, Siebel etc) has been tested successfully. The other apps might not been given a try. So is my question. Would like to know whether G-Log image on Oracle VM is technically possible?

    Has anybody tried OTM (Oracle Transportation Management - G-log) image using Oracle VM?

  • Bursting using multiple data models To run reports - or burst from multiple data sources you need to combine the data first with a data template.
    A data template allows you to combine multiple queries in a hiearchical way - i.e. master detail.

    For the bursting to work all the data that should be in one report instance hast to be in one subtree of the
    XML data. I.e. each report needs to be under /ROWSET/ROW. You can also combine multiple subsequent
    rows like all /DATA/INVOICE into a single report. Check the user guide for data template and bursting.

    By the way bursting is different in the deployments for Oracle E-Busines Suite, Peoplesoft and the standalone
    BI Publisher enterprise. So it is important to state the context.

    Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see it earier.

    Klaus

  • Using the Portal Report Manager to integrate HCM & FSCM installations I understand that this is possible; but, have been unable to do so successfully. We'd like to have the users log in to the portal, access their HCM or FSCM components, initiate reports & pick up the reports from both HCM & FSCM in the Portal Report Manager. We've managed to get everything working except the ability to access the reports in the Portal Report Manager.

    For example, the user can initiate a report in FSCM and the Process Scheduler & Distribution Agent will correctly place the report in the Portal Report Repository. When the user then tries to access the report through the Portal Report Manager they are unable to do so. We've got the messaging configured so that the report shows up as a link; but, the link won't work.

    A related issue that we envision is the collision of Process Scheduler Instance Numbers & Report Numbers between HCM & FSCM as both systems place reports in a central portal Report Repository.

    We've looked for documentation on configuring this but have yet to find any.

    If any of you have got this working, we'd really appreciate hearing how you got it to work!

    TIA,
    tdw
