Web Servers and the Middleware: Deployment ConsiderationsThis is a featured page

In the world of larger scale multi-tier enterprise middleware deployments, web tier plays a critical role offloading the application servers and providing a secure and scalable frontend to the business logic tier. The web tier comprises of web servers or web proxy servers implementing various services including SSL termination, single sign on, DOS attack protection, URL rewriting, reverse proxying, caching, and HTTP compression. We'll start with a few considerations, at a system architecture level, viz., Security, Performance & Scalability and Manageability. We then discuss what this means, a little bit more detailed level, to different web and web proxy server choices Oracle Fusion middleware may have today, including Apache, Sun Web Server and IIS. Ideal participants in this session are the system architects and administrators who will share their perspectives for the benefit of the rest.
