Siebel is an application for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) available in the following configurations

Siebel is a 3-tier architecture consisting of the following components
  • Siebel Web Server Extensions
  • Siebel Application Server
  • Database Server

Siebel is available on different server operating systems
  • Windows
  • Oracle Unbreakable Linux
  • AIX
  • HP-UX
  • Sun Solaris
  • Suse Linux
  • Red Hat Linux

Siebel is database agnostic (you don't write SQL in a Siebel application) and supports the following database platforms only

  • Oracle
  • SQL Server
  • IBM DB2

Siebel supports different industry applications (Pharma, Finance, Communications, Consumer Goods, Public Sector, Insurance, Hospitality). Typical Siebel applications areas are call-center applications, sales & marketing, field service, campaign management, customer management).

Siebel includes a large number of functional modules
  • Workflow
  • Work assignment
  • Many forms of integration capability at the presentation, business logic and data layers of the application
  • EIM (data load utility)
  • SSSE (Siebel Server Sync for Exchange)
