Oracle Enterprise Manager has a very extensive, comprehensive and flexible procedures which enables the users to have a very smooth process in patching of the targets monitored by the EM.
Enterprise Manager Patching ensures the vulnerabilities of the targets are removed on time and critical/security fixes are applied appropriately.

I have used this facility and feel it is an excellent facility especially for a "lights-out" operation where hundreds of database servers have to be patched overnight. The EM10g Deployment procedures fully automate this process including blackouts of the target, shutdown, patch application (after pre-staging into a specified area) and then post upgrade scripts followed by startup of the target database again. No need to even FTP the patch itself to 100s of servers. This is a real boon for massive sites.
