What Is Included in this Release?

This release of Oracle Gadgets includes:
  • Oracle Gadget Manager – This is a prerequisite for the gadgets to function.
  • Oracle Contacts Gadget
  • Oracle Top Accounts Gadget
  • Oracle Top Deals Gadget
  • Oracle Search Gadget
  • Oracle Quota Gadget
  • Oracle Tune Up Tool for Gadget Manager

Oracle CRM Gadgets are supported for Oracle Siebel Business Applications (“CRM On Premise) versions 7.7 and later.
  • The Search Gadget supports Oracle Siebel Business Applications 8.0 and above using the default search engine

Oracle CRM Gadgets are supported for Oracle CRM On Demand (“CRM On Demand”) with the following exceptions:
  • Quota Gadget, Search Gadget, and Tune up tool for Gadget Manager.

Using the Contacts Gadget
The Contacts Gadget presents you with a simple means of searching and interacting with the contacts in your CRM On Premise or CRM On Demand application. You can click-to-email or click-to-call your contacts directly from the gadget.

The click-to-call capability is supported through a pre-integration with Oracle Call Center On Demand (CCOD).

You can easily tag your contacts as “customers,” “partners,” or “references.” You can also search for contacts across multiple internet-based social networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Spoke, and other social networking sites.













The Contacts Gadget includes the name of the contact, their title, the account to which they are associated, phone numbers, and email address.
The Contact Gadget provides the following functionality:
  • To see account details, drill down on the account name to launch the browser and connect to your CRM On Premise system or CRM On Demand account.
  • To navigate through the Contact records, use the Forward and Backward buttons.
  • To display all contacts, click Oracle CRM Gadgets User Guide - Oracle Wiki.
  • To launch the default email client to send a message to the contact, click the contact’s email address.
  • To access the Preferences panel, click Oracle CRM Gadgets User Guide - Oracle Wiki. This panel allows you to configure the panel color, font color, and refresh time (the elapsed time before data is fetched from Gadget Manager). You can control the number of contacts displayed with the Total Contacts slide.

    Note: English is the only supported language for this release (other languages will be added soon!).

The Top Accounts Gadget

The Top Accounts Gadget enables you to keep informed of the news that is affecting your customers, through the use of public feeds. This gadget combines key account management data from your CRM On Premise system or CRM On Demand account with internet-based content available via Yahoo Finance and Google RSS news.
You can view real-time equities market updates, and you can access up-to-date news concerning your accounts via RSS news feeds.





For each account, Top Accounts Gadget stores:
  • Account name
  • Location
  • Phone number
  • Associated stock ticker
  • RSS news feed

The Top Account Gadget provides the following functionality:
  • To associate a stock ticker symbol with an account that is a public company, click Oracle CRM Gadgets User Guide - Oracle Wiki. This also pulls a delayed stock quote using the Yahoo Finance site.
  • To provide an RSS feed from Google Finance on any business articles that are associated with this particular stock ticker symbol, click Oracle CRM Gadgets User Guide - Oracle Wiki.

Using The Top Deals Gadget

The Top Deals Gadget provides you with real-time insight into the status of sales opportunities that are scheduled to close in the current sales reporting period. Deals that are successfully on-track to close are color-coded green. At-risk deals – depending upon sales stage and number of days left in the current sales period – are color-coded yellow or red. You can easily monitor your deal flow directly from your computer desktop using this gadget.

Top Deals Gadget displays the name of the opportunity, the account name with which this opportunity is associated, the sales stage, the revenue amount, and an icon that indicates whether or not the deal is at risk.
Top Deals Gadget provides the following functionality:
  • To access the Preferences panel, click Oracle CRM Gadgets User Guide - Oracle Wiki. This panel allows you to configure the panel color, font color, and currency with which to display the total pipeline.
  • To refresh the display of opportunities data, click Oracle CRM Gadgets User Guide - Oracle Wiki.

Using the Search Gadget

The Search Gadget makes it easy for you to find data and content in your Siebel CRM On Premise system.

The Search Gadget integrates with the default search engine implemented in your CRM On Premise system to allow you to search on any business component.

Note: Ensure that your administrator sets up the index on each business component on which you want to search.
Clicking on a record in the results set takes you to the specific record in your CRM On Premise system.

Using The Quota Gadget
The Quota Gadget provides a real-time view of your current quarter sales pipeline, target quota for the quarter, and the quota achieved thus far.

Using the Tune Up Tool for Gadget Manager

The Tune Up Tool for Gadget Manager enables you to configure gadgets to work with a specific CRM instance and set of properties without having to make changes to code or to the CRM On Premise application. You can switch between stored configurations quickly and easily.
With Tune Up Tool for Gadget Manager, you to configure the various gadgets properties. You can select the gadget name, its screens, views, fields, and so on, or import a previously saved set of properties.

The Tune Up Tool supports the following gadgets:
  • Contacts Gadget
  • Top Accounts Gadget
  • Top Deals Gadget
  • Quota Gadget

Tune Up Tool supports CRM On Premise. It does not support CRM On Demand.
To configure gadgets with Tune Up Tool for Gadget Manager:
  1. The Initiate screen allows you to define the type of data source and the type of property configuration.
  • Click the radio button for On Premise.
  • Do either of the following:
  • Click the radio button for Modify Properties, then click Configure to continue to screens that allow you to manually modify properties for gadgets.
  • To import a previously-configured set of property values, click the Browse button in the Import Properties from File box to locate and load a saved property.xml file. Then click Configure.

  1. On the Login screen, enter the URL, username, and password to log in to your CRM On Premise server, then click Login.
    Tune Up Tool logs in to your CRM On Premise system.
    Note: When you launch your Siebel CRM On Premise application from a browser, the URL looks similar to:
    https://myserver.siebel.com/sales_enu/start.swe
    Your machine name is different. Your application name may also be different.
    To launch a gadget using the same basic URL, do not include “start.swe.” For example, enter :
    https://myserver.siebel.com/sales_enu

  1. The Screen/View screen allows you to select the CRM On Premise screen view for a gadget, which determines the data that is accessed by the gadget.
    Note: For this release, each gadget is limited to a single view.
  • In the Gadget Screen & View details box, select the name of the gadget to configure from the Gadget picklist.
    The Select Screen field displays the CRM On Premise screen that corresponds to the gadget.
  • Click Go to populate the List of views field.
  • In the List of views field, select the view to use, then click Choose Attributes.

  1. The Attributes screen displays Previous Attributes. Do one of the following:
  • To continue with your previous set of attributes, click No Change.
  • For each Attribute # field in the Select New Attributes box, choose a field to display in your gadget from the picklist. When finished, click Next.

  1. The Configure screen displays the property values for the gadget you have configured. Click Set Properties to set these properties for this gadget.
    A Completed message appears.

    Note: To also export your settings to a properties.xml file for later import, make sure you check the Check to export config settings checkbox.

  1. After clicking Set Properties, the Set Properties button becomes the Close button. To change settings for the gadget you configured or to change settings for another gadget, click the Back button on Tune Up Tool and repeat steps 3-5. When you are finished configuring, click Close to exit Tune Up Tool.
