Each business solution needs more or less so called localisations to adaped special needs and functions.
Those special needs and functions are normaly driven by regions, countries, law etc. We will find localisations in most of the Oracle business solutions like E-Business Suite, JDEdwards, Peoplsoft and Siebel products. But we also see that sometimes the description of the word localisation is not clear.
As a first step in this WIKI this should be more detailed and defined. Secondly, the various drivers for localisation should be identified and outlined.
The Oracle User Group Community is very active in this area. You can also get more details about localisation and what the UG's are actually doing on :
www.iouc.org Next Events / Action !
If you are interested to hear more about localizations or to meet with others having this topic also on scope then

The IOUC Localization Committee will meet on Monday, 14 April 2008 from 3:30PM - 4:30PM
Room 608 at Colorado Conference Center.
Localization TargetsOracle eBS, JDE, Peoplesoft and Siebel applications can have localizations / globalizations
Localization ManagementOracle has established teams managing localisation issues around the world. Those teams are organized at region level. Localisation regions are : EMEA, APAC and South America.
From the user group community there is a task force installed overlooking all localisation topics.
This task force is part of the IOUC and named Localisation Committee
LoczlizationLocalization TypesFor each product line there are three different types of localizations:
- Localizations provided by the standard product
- Localizations provided by the regional localizations teams or by Oracle Consulting
- Localizations provided by thrid parties (mainly for JDE)
Additional EBS Localizations for EMEA Back in 2006 Oracle EMEA decided to consolidate all existing extensions which have been build locally by different EMEA country consulting organisations and to migrate them to R12, leveraging standard development processes. All extensions are Global Single Instance compliant, can be downloaded via Metalink (Knowledge Browser - > EBS -> Consulting Localizations) and are complemented with Installation Instructions, a Technical Reference Manual and a Users Guide. All issues related to those extensions can be reported to Oracle Support, following the usual procedures.Details about functionality being available to customers via Metalink can be found in the attached xls at the very bottom of this page.
