This page describes the enablement of ALUA support on a Data ONTAP 7.2.x device. Data ONTAP is the operating system used by NetApp filers, and IBM n-series storage (rebranded NetApp devices).


ALUA must be enabled on specific igroups, hence:

  • see if ALUA is enabled: "igroup show -v"

filer> igroup show -v
oracle-vm-hosts (FCP):
OS Type: linux
Member: 10:00:00:00:c0:ff:ee:7e (logged in on: vtic)
Member: 10:00:00:00:c0:ff:ee:7f (logged in on: 0a, 0b)

  • enable ALUA on an igroup: "igroup set <igroup-name> alua yes"
