Oracle E-Business Suite, also commonly known as Oracle Applications or even more simply as apps,Apps, is the longstanding flagship Enterprise software suite sold by Oracle. The product has its origins in the financial software written by Oracle UK in the late 1980s. The product is described as a suite of enterprise software products largely because it is made up of a large number of distinct software modules covering everything from general ledger accounting to clinical trial management via manufacturing, the public sector and so on.

The technical application structure is approximately as follows.

  • database layer - containgcontaining the apps database (which may be RAC)
  • application server layer - containing the application server.
  • development tools layer - containg the runtimes for forms and reports used by the application.

The versions of the above architecture components supporting an E-Business Suite installation are frequently older than the current releases of the standalone products. However, the most recent release of E-Business Suite, oftentimesoften referred to simply as R12, makes use of the most recent version of the Oracle Application Server supporting Forms and Reports--10.1.2.x.

These commonly deployed modules have their own pages on this wiki, linked below, and often their own user groups as well.
