BEA Customers: How has Oracle's acquisition of BEA affected you? Take a survey.

On July 31, 2008, the BEA Dev2Dev and Arch2Arch Websites will be decommissioned.

Oracle Technology Network
In preparation for this event, the Oracle Technology Network team, which now includes some of the same people behind those BEA communities, has been hard at work merging the best of Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch into OTN. (Be sure to read the FAQ.)

While that work is ongoing, familiar Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch community resources are already available on OTN, with improved tools and increased opportunities for peer interaction and collaboration.

Join up!
As a member of the Oracle Technology Network you will enjoy access to software downloads, discussion forums, documentation, wikis, podcasts, blogs and other resources, just as you did on Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch, plus much more.

The following is a summary and update of the various aspects of the Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch migration to OTN. This content will be updated when new information is available.

  • Dev2Dev/Arch2Arch Forums / NNTP newsgroups
Legacy BEA forums will remain accessible at forums.bea.com until September. At that time, forum and newsgroup content will be migrated into searchable archives at forums.oracle.com. For more information see Discussion Forums Mapping: BEA to Oracle. New Oracle forums for architects are now also available.

  • Documentation
The BEA Product Documentation site (edocs.bea.com) will be decommissioned on August 31, 2008. Content is being migrated to a new home on OTN.

  • Dev2Dev/Arch2Arch Articles
An archive of Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch articles, some going back to 2005, is now available on OTN. Articles dating back as far as 2003 will also eventually be migrated (totaling approximately 500 in number). The editorial selection of articles for migration is based on relevance to available technologies and current strategy.

  • Dev2Dev and Arch2Arch Newsletters
BEA's Dev2Dev Dispatch will become Oracle's Dev2Dev Newsletter. BEA's Arch2Arch Advisor will become Oracle's Arch2Arch Newsletter. Delivery of the email newsletters will begin later this summer. Subscriptions to the BEA newsletters will automatically transfer to the Oracle replacements.

  • Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch Blogs
The Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch blogs will be shut down as part of the decommissioning of the BEA community Websites. In many cases bloggers have already migrated content to new Oracle blogs or to independently hosted blogs. Check your favorite BEA Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch bloggers for specific information.

  • Security Advisories
Security advisories have been migrated to the BEA Support site. This function will eventually be integrated into Oracle's advisory process.

  • CodeShare
CodeShare will be integrated into OTN as a sample code repository. However, the scope of that integration excludes the use of CodeShare as an open source project repository and collaboration tool. CodeShare-hosted projects can be migrated on request to OpenCollabNet. Migration requests must be submitted before July 31, 2008.

  • RSS Feeds
Dev2Dev and Arch2Arch RSS feeds will be unavailable after July 31, 2008. Oracle offers a number of equivalent feeds, and OTN maintains a richly-tagged del.icio.us account. Visit oracle.com/rss for more information.

  • User Groups
We encourage all BEA customers to join Oracle's global network of more than 450 independent users groups. These groups provide an opportunity to network, share experiences and best practices, and provide input on Oracle products and services. To locate a user group near you, visit www.iouc.org.

  • Technical Director Program
This program has been replaced by the Oracle ACE program. Interested members of the Technical Director Program are encouraged to become Oracle ACEs or ACE Directors. See the Oracle ACE FAQ for more information.

  • Events
Dev2Dev Tech Days will be replaced by OTN Developer Day workshops. We also urge you to attend one of the BEA Welcome events scheduled in cities around the globe.

The Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch team appreciates your participation in the BEA community, and sincerely hopes you'll become part of the Oracle Technology Network. Click here for more information on the Dev2Dev / Arch2Arch migration to OTN, and on becoming a member of the OTN community.
