hey for my crystal report server i am using oracle 9i as a back end but i forget the admnistrative password of the crystal report and i dont even have any other user to log into the crystal report.I have the administrative rights for the application so i want to know is there any other way to reset the password or create a new user from the backend database.

monitoring index usage

Hi all, can you tell me something about this?
I'd like to know what happens when you execute:
alter index i1 monitoring/nomonitoring usage;
I mean, is there some effect on the queries and cursors that are in the SGA? Do they have to be reparsed again, as it happens when you rebuild an index? Are they flushed from SGA?
And, is there any other thing to take into account?

the script you provided seems really interesting but I think it is for 10g or 11g and we are using 9i

I am not sure how do you implement 11g RMAN commands if your database version is 10gR2. First you need to install 11g Database. RMAN is a oracle tools that comes with Database like 9i or 10g or 11g. Many RMAN commands are same but you will get some extra features for 11g.

Hello guys, I really need some help here
I have been given a task of Installing oracle 10g or 11g on a windows 2003 server R2 which will be the main host server. currently we have oracle 9i on sun solaris. I want to know that which version should I download and how should I install it. Is there any documentation available for it.

The distribution media has the installation guides. Better yet you can download the entire doc set from OTN. I prefer the entire doc set. Non-RAC is a very straightforward installation. For 10g you download 10.2.0.1 for OTN then go to metalink and download the 10.2.0.3 upgrade patch (if 10.2.0.4 is available then downloand it) For 11g the base release is 11.1.0.6 which you can download from OTN.

On 9i Oracle release pga_target.
On 10g Oracle release sga_target.
On 11g we have the complete memory management with memory_target.
